The Health Care Dispensary was opened in 1992 and has been registered as a palliative care centre since 2011. After diagnosis of various life threatening illnesses such as HIV/AIDs, cancer and congestive cardiac heart failure, patients would be discharged from hospitals and left alone without proper medication and without family who understood how to care for them. The care service aims to provide total care for the patient either within their home or in the free-standing hospice unit. It also aims to give the patient the highest quality of life and offers them relief from suffering, treatment of pain and oxygen hunger. The care service assists families in the care of the patient and helps them to cope with loss and grief during the terminal stages of the illness.
