Work

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God...
1 John 3:1
Welcome to the next issue of MMN News.
It has been great to speak with many of you in the Zoom sessions we have had over the last few weeks. Thank you for your encouragement about the new name and visual identity and we appreciate your understanding as we transition to a new way of shipping.

If you still have questions or concerns then please do get in touch with us and we will do our best to help.
Big Give 2025
Our project focus this month is ACHERU in Uganda - see below for more details. As we have been hearing more about their ministry and how they are seeking to help children living with disability, we want to do more to raise awareness and support as this could be avoided in many cases.

Problem
A high number of children are being born in Uganda with cerebral palsy due to women not giving birth in a health facility and having medical staff on hand when issues arise. This leads to a lifelong burden for a child and their family, which in many cases could have been prevented if women were aware of the risks and knew where to go for help before giving birth.

Solution
ACHERU want to run community outreaches that will increase the awareness of women of the risks that can occur during childbirth and the life-long impacts for children who don't receive medical attention when it is needed. They will explain the causes and ensure that the women know where the maternity services are located and how they can access them. The team will also build on their existing support for those with cerebral palsy through physiotherapy and play equipment for children.

Impact
A reduction of children being born with cerebral palsy and women feeling like they are better supported and have more knowledge about the risks of childbirth. For those living with cerebral palsy, that there would be more support in place to help with their condition and give them more independence.

Through Big Give we have the opportunity to access some match funding. In order to access it we require pledges to support the campaign financially - each pledge would need to be a minimum of £100. If you feel led to help reduce the incidence of cerebral palsy in Uganda and are able to offer a pledge, then please click the link below.
Make a Pledge
Pledges need to be in by 29th August and the actual donation will be collected in December when the campaign has finished.

If you would like any more information about the project or the campaign then please get in touch - we really appreciate your interest and support as we try to raise more awareness for those living with cerebral palsy, and offer more preventative education.
More Information
Grants
At the last trustees meeting we were able to give grants out to support the following projects:
  • New Hope - helping to purchase x-ray equipment for the clinic in DR Congo
  • Shining Star (Acet UK) - educating and supporting women wanting to leave the sex industry in Zimbabwe
  • Dreamland Mission Hospital - providing assistance in building a second operating theatre to help give better maternal care in western Kenya
  • Stronger Together - facilitating local churches in disability outreaches in Thailand through training and provision of mobility aids
  • PRIME - continuing the training of church leaders in dealing with mental health issues in Nepal
Containers
The warehouse is full with most of the pallets packed ready to go once the next batch of medicines are ready. Depending on how much room the medicines take up will determine how many of these pallets we can get on. We are hoping that this will on its way to Zambia in early August.
The container that was sent to Angola a few weeks ago has arrived at the port in Luanda. Please pray for a smooth passage through Customs so that the literature and supplies can be used to support the local ministries.
Project Focus
Our project focus this month is ACHERU based in Uganda. ACHERU is a rehabilitation unit for disabled children where all of its support is focused on the gospel. They offer treatment for physical disabilities such as cleft lip, club foot and cerebral palsy through outpatient clinics or surgery.

Electives
A number of new electives have been accepted for a bursary from MMN including Anne-Marie who has just flown out to Mae Tao Clinic in Thailand - please be praying for God's hand over her as she begins her elective there.

You can catch up on how Ryan got on in Nepal here and Hannah has shared her report from the Philippines here.
