Emanuel Clinic was founded in 1992 by 15 Christian doctors from a variety of denominational backgrounds, with a vision to provide the poor and needy with reliable and corruption free medical treatment. From June 2011, they partnered with a UK Christian Charity, Breadline, who have been supporting them ever since. Emanuel Clinic provide 18,000 consultations a year. Medical Missionary News and Breadline are working together to help Emanuel Clinic to develop its Mobile Clinic which provides free treatment for over 1,000 people a year who live in remote, impoverished rural communities. MMN also support training and medical conferences, and their Step by Step programme, which aims to reduce the risk of HIV/AIDs by educating young people and supporting those who have become infected to live healthier lives.
Hospitals and clinics are often inaccessible for those living in rural communities as the cost of both public transport and medical care would be impossible. Mobile clinics provide an alternative to reach those in remote areas to offer affordable healthcare within easy access.
Emanuel Clinic run between 14 and 17 mobile clinics each year, primarily to share God's love and his message to those who would otherwise not hear the gospel, but to offer medical care as a way of reaching these people.
Due to COVID-19, in 2021 there will be 9 clinics arranged across 5 regions of Moldova. The clinics are arranged through local churches or by local public administrators where such ministries are accepted.
