Following the Syrian conflict that began in 2011, over 18 million people have been forcibly displaced across the region. The region of Iraqi Kurdistan in the north hosted 300,000 Syrian refugees which has placed great strain on the local government health services. With support, IHP has been able to coordinate thousands of treatments, primarily of antibiotics and anti-inflammatories across this region.
Since then we have worked with IHP in response to a number of political or natural disasters in South Sudan, Yemen and China.
Project Hope has worked in China for many years and began with the founding of the HOPE School of Nursing in 2001, which has been responsible for training thousands of nurses – many of whom are now working on the frontline to tackle the Coronavirus. With support, Project Hope have distributed protective gear to Wuhan, China, to try and protect people against the spread of this virus.
