Pray for opportunities in the Vision for Bangladesh team reaching children. During Rachel’s visit they were not expecting to receive many children and the mobile clinic due to COVID restrictions only recently easing, but were greeted by 300 children.
The children were arranged by age for screening and were all given a Vitamin A tablet to chew to try and improve their eyesight due to their deficiency.
The children are also seen by a refractionist to check for any reduction in their eyesight – their prescription is assessed then glasses are made for them at the Hospital. These are then passed onto their school teacher.
As part of the screening offered to these children, the teachers are also offered training on what issues to look out for in the children’s eyesight so that they can refer them for the appropriate treatment in the future. Two of the teachers at this particular mobile clinic were originally from the Tea Gardens, which gives the children great encouragement and aspirations for their future.
