Rwenzori Women for Health is a project run by the hospital to particularly support women in their health from the local area. The team run screening sessions and use the opportunity to share the gospel with the women.
Here is a look at when the trustee's visited the project this year:
This is a community outreach project bringing health education to the remote villages around Kagando, and is run by two nurses, Joshua and Merecy, both very good communicators. On our recent visit we went up the mountain to Busira with them. The climb is easier since a new road has been carved out of the hillside, but still hot and exhausting! The teaching was to introduce the idea of screening – for blood pressure, diabetes and cervical cancer – as a screening programme was due to start shortly. It was inspiring to watch Joshua deliver his message, with plenty of laughs and a lot of interest.
The village has just built its own small clinic, and this was the opportunity for all the pregnant mothers to have check ups, to the great entertainment of the children.
