One of our NGO-partners has called to MHO staff to refer a homeless, pregnant woman we call D*.
D has mental delay and is HIV-positive. The NGO-partners called MHO so that she would have better access to pregnancy care, healthcare, food and a place to stay in our programme.
Additional assistance in finding about D’s background and family history was provided by the village chief, CCWC, district chief, departments of social affairs, and women affairs. The Deputy Governor of Kampot City has called for a meeting with MHO staff and Partner NGO on how they would help this case. As a result of the meeting, the group decided to provide a place for D to stay in Kampot and hire someone to look after her and her baby after she gives birth.
In order to make this happen, the local authority, Governor, MHO and Partner NGO, provided the women with rental fee, monthly food supply, baby basket, pregnancy care (healthcare services), and delivery care and services.
However, for the long term situation, MHO and partners have agreed to find a place for D to stay permanently that will have the facilities to care for her special needs and health issues. MHO staff found the place for her to stay in Phnom Penh and we continue to help and support her as needed. The District Governor and the other partners are monitoring her progress, especially the governor herself has interest in her situation.
Please pray for partnerships like this, where relationships can be built with other organisations to provide the best care possible.
