A high number of children are being born in Uganda with cerebral palsy due to women not giving birth in a health facility and having medical staff on hand when issues arise. This leads to a lifelong burden for a child and their family, which in many cases could have been prevented if women were aware of the risks and knew where to go for help before giving birth.

ACHERU want to run community outreaches that will increase the awareness of women of the risks that can occur during childbirth and the life-long impacts for children who don't receive medical attention when it is needed. They will explain the causes and ensure that the women know where the maternity services are located and how they can access them. The team will also build on their existing support for those with cerebral palsy through physiotherapy and play equipment for children.

A reduction of children being born with cerebral palsy and women feeling like they are better supported and have more knowledge about the risks of childbirth. For those living with cerebral palsy, that there would be more support in place to help with their condition and give them more independence.

We have been overwhelmed by your support for our campaign to raise funds for Acheru in Uganda who are seeking to support families affected by cerebral palsy.
We have reached a staggering £10,265 on BigGive thanks to your generous support, and we know the team in Uganda will be incredibly grateful! A huge thank you to those of you who have given to the charity in a different way too, we will be reporting on the total being sent to the charity when all funds have been collected.
We have come to the end of our match-funding campaign with BigGive, but if you would still like to give to Acheru, you can do so via the Donate button above or bank transfer.
Thank you once again for your generosity - we look forward to reporting to you all on how the project is expanding next year, and the many more families being helped through this ministry.
Please keep them in your prayers as they seek to make Jesus known through this provision of healthcare, education and pastoral support.
A life transformed...
After being born with cerebral palsy, Pious' dad assumed his son would never be able to walk. However, after much care and support from the team, Pious took his first steps. Here you can see his wonderful story and the impact the team had on this family's life.
