Pray for Kisiizi Hospital as they experienced severe flash flooding last week. Thank God that nobody was injured even though branches fell off trees and the flood waters moved fast. The water supply was lost as all the pipes were swept away or damaged, and the main generator is out of action (back-up is working well). Some patients, including children, had to evacuated from some wards.
One of the midwives was just heading for a late lunch and saw a mother in the car about to deliver! So she ended up delivering the baby in the car, in the rain, without any equipment, resuscitating the (premature) baby and then moving them to the Maternity department and special care baby unit respectively, thankfully both doing well.
The clean up has started but it will take many days to complete and get everything back to normal. Staff are working really hard and all doing what they can to help. They are also continue to provide medical care to all the patients as best they can.
